Wakelin Motors Ltd was formed in the early 1970's when Brian Wakelin purchased the business from Stan Clemence of GB Motors. During the 70's Brian expanded the business and also moved the petrol pumps to their present site to St John Street.
In 1981, Paddy Davidson purchased Wakelin Motors Ltd form Brian Wakelin and on sold the Service Station part to David and Karen Steele.
In 2000 Wakelin Motors Ltd sold the Workshop/Parts Departments portion of the bussiness to Wakelin Motors (2000) Ltd a Company formed by Gayman, Mark Looney and Barbara Rudkin the three long term employees of Wakelin Motors Ltd.
In 2002 Wakelin Motors Ltd sold the car sales division to Wakelin Motors Cars a Company formed by Dave Murie ther long term salesman of the Company.
In late 2004 Jeff Gayman sold his shares in Wakelin Motors 2000 Ltd to Mark Looney and Barbara Rudkin who continue to operate the business today to the best of their abilities.
